As you ascend Jebel Akhdar marvel at its towering peaks, deep ravines and cascading terraced fields atop steep slopes. Afterwards, we make our way to Misfat Al Abreyeen; where ancient houses and a ruined watchtower top off the mountain amidst magnificent date palm terraces – an uncommon sight in Oman as most palms are grown on the plains instead. Lunch gets served at Al Hamra; renowned for some of Oman’s oldest dwellings that go back as far as 400 years! As you travel through the rugged countryside, behold your surroundings before eventually reaching Jebel Shams; also known as “Sun Mountain” which stands tall at 3009 meters high as Oman’s highest peak. When you get there, be sure to get ready for cooler temperatures and incredible views of what is often called the “Grand Canyon”.
